Care Guide
A few simple habits keep your gold and diamonds looking their best for a lifetime.
Gold
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratching.
- Put jewelry on last — after perfume, lotion, hairspray and makeup, which can dull the finish.
- Remove before showering, swimming, exercising or cleaning; chlorine and harsh chemicals are hard on gold.
- To clean, soak briefly in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and pat dry.
- Buff with a soft, lint-free cloth to bring back the shine.
Diamonds
- Diamonds attract oils from skin and lotion, which quiet their sparkle — clean them often.
- Use the same warm-water-and-mild-soap bath, working a soft brush gently behind the stone where residue collects.
- Handle a piece by its band rather than the stone to keep it bright between cleanings.
- Store diamonds apart from other pieces — a diamond will scratch softer stones and metals.
- Keep them away from chlorine, bleach and abrasive cleaners.
Everyday
- Take pieces off before bed and before anything rough on the hands.
- Have prongs and clasps looked at periodically so stones stay secure.
- When in doubt, a gentle warm-water clean is always safe.
